There is on the map of the world a country where everything is a little different and its name is Thailand. We will not delve into the jungle of authenticity of this region and take the bread from tourist publications and agencies. However, it should be told about the Thai automobile market, as not everyone suspects of the situation there. Since this country is in many respects not so prosperous (as well as other neighbors in the Indochina region), but at the same time densely populated, many automobile manufacturers "thump" their budget analogue models of Thais. Many models of advanced automotive brands Honda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and others are abundant on the market, but if you compare the model range with European analogues, you can see a number of significant differences. For example, this month the sales of the long-awaited subcompact model Toyota Yaris Ativ, which became the ideological successor of the well-sold basic "Yaris" (distinctly different from its European version) and no less popular branch in the person of Toyota Vios, will start this month.
However, it is worth making one assumption at once. Toyota Yaris Ativ in addition to the Thai region will be sold in 70 additional countries (mainly the South Asian region). Unfortunately, among the declared list, Ukraine and its closest neighbors do not appear. But this is not yet the final decision of the Japanese brand, and it is quite possible that soon several countries can announce it (after all, the brand's cars are sold well, and the segment of budget sedans is predominant in the market).
Four-door starts in Thailand one of the first, and a month later the production process of Toyota Yaris Ativ will be launched in other countries. Many may think that the new model completely repeats the design and concept of another budget model of Toyota Vios. Nevertheless, the similarity in appearance is completely covered by the new technical capabilities of the car.
The technical side of the issue of the new "Yaris" is represented by only one unit. They became a four-cylinder engine with a small volume (only 1,2-liters), atmospheric type (!) 3NR-FE. Its power will be limited to 86 horses and 108 Nm of torque. The type of transmission is also represented by only one option - a stepless variator.
The use of such a power plant largely determines the course of the leaders of the Japanese brand, to provide Asian neighbors with products falling under the governmental program Eco-Car. According to it, cars, power units which correspond to the generally accepted international norms of Euro-5, are provided with an additional preferential rate from the government (lower tax on withholding, and other social packages with payments). Potential government support will help improve sales and fill roads with products with a low level of environmental pollution (which seriously affects the ecology of a developing country). Something similar could be seen in the May presentation of Hyundai Xcent for the Indian market (where the tax takes into account the overall length of the car).
As for the aforementioned overall dimensions of the car, then the new Toyota Yaris Ativ is compared with another model of the brand - Toyota Solaris. With a body length of 4425 millimeters and a width of 1730 millimeters, the height of the car rises by 1475 millimeters. The distance between the axis is 2550 mm. The body itself is made taking into account the serious price costs of the segment. About the presence of chrome inserts, or at least the edges can be forgotten. Headlights halogen type (running and rear LED type), 18-inch wheels, 3 variants of exterior color design.
Much more interesting car seems inside. For the first time among cars of Japanese origin, which represent their products in a similar segment, Toyota Yaris Ativ has ABS and ESP systems, which include a set of 7 airbags (including driver's curtains and a knee pillow for the driver) in the base version. Not expected and the appearance of keyless access to the car and start the car with a button, but the Japanese designers decided to please such unimportant opportunities.
Since the car, according to the creators, is designed primarily for young people, the car is equipped if not advanced, then impressive for its price tag technology. In the center of the cabin are a pair of displays: 4.3-inch screen Optitron, which complements the functionality of the driver's devices, as well as a 7-inch multimedia center display, with a touch screen.
To compete with the new Toyota Yaris Ativ is with whom. In addition to potential Japanese colleagues in the shop in the face of Mitsubishi Attrage, Honda Brio Amaze and Suzuki Ciaz, the main competitor in Tyland is still the five-door original Yaris (for the past 3 years it has been the best-selling car in the country).
Price
Bosses from Toyota intend to produce more than seven and a
half thousand cars a month (half for the local market and half for exports).
When translating the price tag into dollars, the basic version of the new
"Yaris" will leave the market at about $ 14,000. And here the charged
version of the car will manage to clients in 18 and a half thousand dollars
(for comparison at Vios such complete set costs 17,8 thousand, and at original
Yaris - 19,4 thousand US dollars).
